After Dental Implant Surgery

Recommended care following implant surgery

Riverview Dental recommends patients take it easy for the next 48 to 72 hours. Resting will help the healing process and limit post-surgery bleeding. Drink fluids, but nothing too cold. An ice pack can be applied to your face in 20-minute intervals for two days following surgery. If you received implants in the upper portion of your mouth, try not to blow your nose for two weeks. If you have to blow your nose, do so lightly.

It is normal to experience some bleeding for 2 to 3 days following surgery. You could also feel slightly uncomfortable the first two days. By the third day, you should begin to feel better. You could also experience a mild fever. Finally, while you can eat when you are hungry, do not chew directly on the wound.
